A 3D platformer where you play as a Chinese Zodiac chimera trying to reach a bowl of noodles before they go cold. This is serious business - rumbly tummies are no laughing matter.

Your head, body and legs are randomised at the start of the level - each one offering a different stat boost. You can re-spin using the slot machines to try for a better combo and reach the finish in record time.

Instructions

WASD to move

Move mouse to look around

Press E near a slot machine to re-spin your body parts

R to respawn

SPACE to jump (hold to jump even higher)

Press SPACE in the air to multi-jump (depends on body parts)

Charge forward by pressing SHIFT (depends on body parts)

Pass through the Chinese gates as checkpoints and add more zodiac animals to your pool of possible combos. Perhaps some bouncy lanterns will help you climb.

If you're struggling on a platforming section, try spinning for a jackpot - 3 body parts all of the same animal. You never know what powers it might grant you...

Development

This is a game made in 1 week as part of The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam, with the prompt "spin to win". Naturally, my friend Charlie and I jumped to spinning body parts on a chimera like a slot machine. 

Chimera Noodle Run was made in Unreal Engine 5. We made all assets entirely ourselves during the jam, except for some of the sound effects which we sourced online (all appropriately licenced). No AI usage at all (barely any "I" used either).
